As an affiliate marketer one of my strongest programs to use is a site called Clickbank. You can view the site here at www.clickbank.com Clickbank is the middle man company of people who have digital products they want to sell and connects them to affiliates that do the advertising for these companies and earn a commission from each sale.
All of the products you find on clickbank are digital such as…
- eBooks
- Software
- Videos
They range in topics from
- Beekeeping
- How to make money online
- Dieting
- TV on your computer
- many more topics
You can get started as either an “Affiliate” which is free or a “Vendor” which has a small start up cost. An affiliate is someone who wants to promote others’ products and earn a commission on each sale they make. A vendor is someone who has a digital product that wishes to place it on the market so other affiliates of clickbank can promote their products.
Clickbank products offer a very high commission rate because they are digital products. The start up cost and delivery costs are very low compared to a physical product that would be shipped to your home. It is because of this you will see commission rates almost always around 50% to 75% of the sale going to the affiliate.
Once you create your clickbank account you will need to find a product in which you want to start promoting. To do this there is a section of the site called “Marketplace” which will show you all of the products currently being sold and how much they are selling for. Below is an example of one of my favorite products on ClickBank by Russell Brunson called 20 minute payday which you can pick up yourself if you wish by clicking on the link.
This snippet of the product holds a lot of information you need to know about. At the top is the title and description of the product that the seller has written. It gives you an idea of what the product is about and if its something that your going to want to be promoting.
The avg $/sale is the average amount of money affiliates are making per sale. This number will change up and down the more people that promote the product. There are a number of factors which give you this average number. They include the initial cost of the product, any upsells or downsells of the product and any recurring commissions. You can gather a snap shot of this information via the icons you see at the bottom of the image near the american flag. By holding your mouse over top of each symbol,in order of left to right, you can see what this product currently offers. 20 Minute payday is in English, has a one time billing, a recurring billing and an up-sell.
One more important factor to look at is the Grav: short for Gravity. This number represents a unique calculation that takes in the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 12 weeks. Since more recent transactions are given a higher value, this number can give you an idea of what products are “hot” at the moment, in terms of being promoted by how many affiliates and making a good number of sales. However it also shows that there is a lot of competition.
My advice on gravity is simple. Find a product with a gravity of at least 20-30 take a look at the site and see if its clean and professional. If it is you most likely have yourself a winner in terms of a good product to promote. However hot products with a gravity over 100 sell very well to your own mailing list that is centered around that niche, as there is a current “buzz” around it. Make sure you keep within categories if your doing list marketing. You do not want to be selling cat products to your dog training list!
