101 List How to Promote Your Website

Building flowing traffic to your sites can be a huge undertaking. I created this 101 post to give you the best ways to drive traffic to your sites faster and with less time. This list is to cover  the key points but will not go in depth about how to do each. To find more information about each of these search this blog.

1. Create a newsletter and give it away for free
2. Create an ebook or report and give it away for free as a torrent file on mininova
3. Build a fan page on facebook
4. Add your PDF report and add it to sites like
5. Give out business cards
6. Create posters, pens and other items with your logo and site name on them and give them away
7. Create a signature file to go out on all of your emails
8. Include testimonials from your clients, write up testimonials for others products you have used
9. Create a sample of your product and give it away for free to intice you prospects
10. Advertise on facebook, adwords, bidvertiser, YahooMSN and Bing
11. When creating a product make sure it has a link back to your site
12. Create a press release about your web site on PRWeb
13. Create and post articles on Blazing Articles, Ezine Article be sure to link back to your site in the resource field
14. Find other blogs in your niche and offer to be an author on it. Posting great articles on other popular blogs will gain you branding exposure and more traffic.
15. Advertise on radio with your URL
16. Advertise on TV
17. Be a speaker at a convention
18. Post your ad in newspapers
19. Host events

21. Link your blogs to other blogs so it sends them a ping back
22. Create a 404 error page so if a visitor finds a page that does not exist it will transfer them to your main site
23. Add your product or report to giveaway events
24. Create postcards for direct mailings
25. Add your site to yellowpages
26. Buy advertising on others sites
27. Provide valuable comments on other blogs
28. Offer coupons for your products
29. Offer gift certificates
30. Create a contest
31. Simply tell someone about your site
32. Ask your current audience what they want and then build around it
33. Create a video and add it on all major video sites (Shortcut use TubeMogul)
34. Support a charity
35. Write up a book with the knowledge you have and publish it
36. Have a podcast
37. Work with others in your field but not your direct competition for Joint Venture partnerships
38. Think outside the box, coming up with unique ideas will set your company apart from others leading to more traffic
39. Create a live feed for your business on sites like ustream
40. Make sure your site can be easily bookmarked with a tell a friend script
41. Invest time in forms in your market area, be sure to place in a signature file
42. Create a daily tip of the day or weekly tip to encourage repeat visitors
43. Create viral campaigns for your business such as tell 5 friends before you get access to said item or discount
44. Be sure your site has a complete META tag
45. Use images and rename them for keywords such as article-marketing-tips.jpg
46. Allow visitors to join your RSS feed easily
47. Be sure your site has a sitemap
48. Submit your site to directories such as yahoo directory and DMOZ
49. Submit to niche specific directories
50. Do email swaps with others in your niche
51. Create banners for web site promotion such as 125×125 pixel and 468×60 pixels

52. Use a safelist such as List Joe
53. Create a PPV (Paid Per View) campaign
54. Rent others email lists
55. Buy leads
56. Build an auto responder at a site like Aweber
57. Build yourself a link building strategy such as a linkwheels
58. Create a resource page and trade links with other sites in your niche

60. Create free software with your brand that helps solve an issue many have in your niche. Then submit it to software directory sites such as The Software Network
61. Submit your site or blog to award sites. When you rank high be sure to place your new badge on your site
62. Is your product area specific? Then use GeoTracking when promoting
63. Use Ezines
64. Place an add in a magazine, either full page ads or a flyer that falls out to grab attention
65. Collect leads by submitting your squeeze page to CPA (Cost Per Action) offer sites like PrimaryAds
66. Promote your podcasts on iTunes, Odeo, PodOMatic andPodCastAlly
67. Be sure to ping your site each time you add new content on sites like PingOMatic and Pingler
68. Upload your products pictures to sites like Flickr, Fotolog
69. Be sure to tag your photos on Flickr
70. Get other bloggers to review your site. Offer them free access to your product so they can test it
71. Try PayPerPost to get other bloggers to blog about your site
72. Is your product digital only? Create a vendor account at ClickBank and add your product
73. Add a weekly or monthly poll to your site, then write up about the results. Giving your visitors a way to contribute to your site and have their voice heard promotes repeat visitors

84. When others tweet you make sure they use a RT @Yourname to the beginning

86. Answer questions in your marketplace on LinkedIn Answers

88. Be an expert in your industry
89. Ask to put your business card or brochure in local shops
90. Photograph an event and present it to news agents
91. Write a book and add it to lulu
92. Buy expired domain names in your niche and direct them to your site
93. Add a job board to your site if you are hiring
94. Create controversial articles to spark interest
95. Add your blog and create profiles at MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog and SpicyPage
96. Take part in blog carnivals
97. Create link bait that naturally attract backlinks for your web page by getting people to talk about it
98. Submit your RSS feed to directories such as Feedage
99. Introduce yourself to other bloggers and site owners
100. Create a wordpress theme with your links in the footer and give it away free
101. Take advantage of your high traffic days. You will start to see a repeat after a few weeks or months. On these days create special content to grab more readers for you blog
