3 Ways To Increase Social Interaction On Facebook Fanpage
November 15, 2011

Facebook is still the number one social media platform I use to promote my business. However I always have the issue of actually getting those fans to interact with my pages. On a few of my fan pages I started testing a number of different methods to see if it had any effect on the interaction they got. I came up with 3 of the best and here they are.

#1 – Add more value to your fan page

This is a screen shot from the fan page of Duct Tape Marketing. I have noticed on a number of fan pages, that are very popular, that they have resource areas on the side menu. These side menu resources act as a hub for a wealth of free information.  It provides your fans with extra information about you and other ways to connect with you. On top of that you can add things such as videos, your twitter feed, your blogs feed and other information.

The important thing here is creating a hub of information that is easy to access and relates to what your fan page is about. You will attract a larger audience this way and increase your overall interaction and exposure across all of your social media sites.

I recommend using Involver apps and the Google Plus Tabs for Fanpages

#2 – Interact yourself

I set aside an hours worth of time every day to connect with others fan pages and leave valuable content on their pages. This helps build exposure for my own fan page and builds an authority like figure around my name and brand. The best way to go about doing this is to sign in to Facebook via your fan page. You can do this by logging into your normal Facebook account and then visiting your fan page. On the right side menu click on the link that says “Use Facebook as (your pages name)”When making any posts on others fanpages your name will be linked back to your fanpage and not your personal profile.

On top of this if anyone comments or asks a question on your fanpage be sure to get back to them with a quality answer as soon as possible. This will greatly help your overall interaction on your page.

#3 – Keep the freebies coming

Your fans like being rewarded! On top of the freebies you already give away you should offer even more content for free. Even if it’s short clips of a webinar that only reveals one of the 3 tips you went over in it. This content is valuable and your fans will love you for the extra free information they get exclusive for being a fan of your page.

The more information they can get their hands on will help to increase the interaction on your page.

Using these three tips above on your Facebook fanpages will increase the value of your fanpage. This will increase your number of fans and the exposure and interaction your page deserves.

  • Very interesting Sean, your post 3 Ways To Increase Social Interaction On Facebook Fanpage. I love a post that has real value. Thanks for your contribution Sean. Take care, Michael

  • Hey Sean, Thanks so much for sharing! It is always nice to be able to interact with other people and share strategies with them. Let them know that you are a real person and interested in helping them to be successful. I haven’t used Facebook as much as I should, because I got to the point where as soon as I made contact with someone, they were “Pitching” me their business, but by taking strategies such as you posted, I can get back into and interact with people, I really like using it as a Hub and having other valuable content and then taking the time to interact with others. Thanks again!

  • Hi Sean,
I didn’t know that you can add Google + to Facebook. I need to go and do that right away. I post and interact on FaceBook every day but I don’t spend more than 10 or 15 minutes doing it.

Yup, its pretty cool big time saver to. You can connect your Google + page updates now right into your Facebook fan page. I am sure more is on the way as Google + seems to keep being updated.

  • Thanks for the tips Sean. I am still not really getting exactly how to incorporate twitter and facebook into my marketing campaign. It can be hard to know what is a good way and what isn’t

Excellent article. You’ve shared a lot of awesome tips lately. This post is not an exception. I’d love to become a part of your inner circle, however, I’m too late for it.
This stuff is incredible. First blog post in a long time that I’ve actually taken time to sit through and read the whole thing.
Amazing job – and thanks SO much for detailing us in on it.
    Regards (and thanks!)
