Many new companies and even some older ones are placing in some type of rewards programming for sharing their links on your own website, Facebook, Google +, Twitter etc. This is a layer called gamification which is geared to a reward for simply telling others about the site.

This type of layer of rewards can be very effective however it should be a complicated enough structure that search engines do not catch on to it. There are key points to keeping your new gamification rewards program white hat.

Develop a clear directive: The last thing you want to do is confuse your existing customers. This layer needs to be seamless and have an easy way for people to share and then get their reward. Provide detailed instructions on what the user must do in order to claim this reward.

Review and Acknowledge: Have a site devoted to pointing out your most loyal and creative customers. By reviewing the ads they place you might yourself find new creative ways to promote your business. Just be sure to give credit to the original creator.

Alternate Anchor Text: If there is one thing that leaves a bad taste in the mouths of search engines it’s the repetitive use of the same anchor text. Give your customers a few ideas on anchor texts they can use however be sure to point out they must create their own. This ensures your anchor text looks more natural and not spammed.

By implementing a simple system such as this you can quickly start building quality backlinks that still look white hat in the search engines eyes. Get serious about backlinking and you’ll begin seeing the benefits in a short time.
