Mailing List – How To Grow Yours Quickly

Throughout the last 15 years of my marketing life there is one thing apparent. Email is here to stay for the foreseeable future and is still the number one preferred way of contacting customers. In this post I will be going over to to quickly grow your mailing list. I have done this for a number of projects already such as my blog 37,000 contacts, gaming 143,000 contacts and investing 5,500 contacts.

From these email lists I can do a number of things such as promoting offers, building a following in other social networks, sell products and services, issue training, send people to my new blog posts, run giveaways and so much more. Having these mailing lists is a VERY powerful asset to have and I would say the most critical in terms of how much money your company makes.

1: Create A High Converting Optin Form

As you may have noticed if it is your first time to my blog you will get a pop up offering free training in a course book or a 4 day Instagram training program for free. All you have to do is optin to my mailing list! By offering great value upfront in exchange for their email address I build trust, they get to see the quality of my work and that free training pushes other products and services of my own or an affiliate product/ service I use myself.

Some key factors into building your own high converting optin form are.

  • A unique template that stands out (Great design, responsive design, short catchy headline, clear instructions to optin)
  • Style should match your brand and image such as professional or gaming
  • Large submit button
  • Quick bullet points that touch on some aspect of training within. These are triggers to convert more visitors into leads
  • Only ask for email address, if you ask for name and email you will see a drastic drop in conversion. You can always attempt to collect more data after
  • Split test you never know what might convert better so try new things all the time and compare your results

2: Your offer

Your offer needs to match what your visitor originally came to your site for. You can do this with custom plugins on wordpress to help target campaigns. For example if someone comes from my Instagram account it will pop up a unique offer about Instagram. If they visit my site from normal SEO the offers will range depending on what blog post they are visiting from. When I started to implement this into my business I nearly tripled my conversion rates. It took some time setting up but now that it is there is very little work that needs to be done.

3: Content Upgrades

Have really good quality content on your blog that perhaps you want to lock out and ask for an optin first?

This is a powerful way of giving your visitors a snippet of enticing information and then requiring a small action of them to unlock the rest.

4: Optin form types

There are a number of options you can give your visitors to opting into your email list. I listed a number of these below to give you some ideas.

  • Content unlock
  • Side bar
  • Floating bottom or top bar
  • Lightbox popup
  • Slide in
  • Widget

5: Social

Also remember that your social networks are just like an email list. Your followers are subscribed to your content and each platform has a unique and very powerful way in which you can present that content to product email followers and convert on your products and services.
